Scottish Soprano Rachel Speirs is in her final year of a Master’s degree studying with Sarah Rhodes and was recently a finalist in The Elizabeth Harwood Memorial Prize. Rachel is passionate about the difference that music can make in people's lives and enjoys teaching at Stagecoach Performing Arts as well as leading workshops and lessons for all ages.

Rachel’s operatic engagements include Maria Bertram/Mansfield Park, The Voice of a Bird/The Pilgrim’s Progress, Suor Osmina/Suor Angelica, Mustardseed/A Midsummer Night’s Dream (RNCM Opera), Papagena and cover Pamina/Die Zauberflöte (Flat Pack Music), and Chorus in Carmen (Heritage Opera), The Rake’s Progress, and Don Giovanni (British Youth Opera).


On the Oratorio and Concert platform she has sung as soprano soloist in Haydn’s Creation, Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, and Vivaldi’s Gloria, as well as premiering several new works such as John Joubert’s final work Remember with John Turner and the Villiers String Quartet. 


Rachel is a keen interpreter of Lieder and Art Song and in June 2019 she won the RNCM Joyce and Michael Kennedy Strauss Award. Rachel looks forward to singing with Retrospect Opera as Lotty in their upcoming recording of The Soldier’s Legacy before joining Wexford Festival Opera 2020 in their three main-stage productions and also in their Pocket Opera Shakespeare in Love.
