MEET THE ARTISTS

Welsh baritone John Ieuan Jones recently graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music with distinction where he studied under the guidance of Matthew Best.

During his studies, Ieuan played numerous operatic roles including Lord Ellington (La Vie Parisienne), Pandolfe (Cendrillon) and Watchful (The Pilgrim’s Progress). Since graduating, he was a Flemish Deputy (Don Carlo) with Grange Park Opera and made his Welsh National Opera debut as Brundibar (Brundibar). Most recently, he played The Count in The Marriage of Kim K by Leo&Hyde and Masetto in Don Giovanni with The Merry Opera Company.

 

Ieuan is a busy and in-demand concert singer having performed throughout the UK and abroad. He has been a guest soloist at the Bridgwater Hall, Stoller Hall, The Royal Albert Hall and the Millennium Centre where he sung alongside Sir Bryn Terfel. In 2020, Ieuan is excited to be travelling to both Canada and America to perform in a series of concerts.

 

Awards including the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation Scholarship, the Sybil Tutton Opera Award and the Elizabeth Harwood Memorial Prize. Ieuan has also had countless successes at National Eisteddfodau in Wales, having won the prestigious Osborne Roberts Memorial Prize and this year winning the W Towyn Roberts Memorial Scholarship.

 

Recordings include singing the role of Sherwood in Cellier’s Dorothy conducted by Richard Bonynge and released by Naxos CD. In 2020, Ieuan will release his first solo album with record label Sain.

 

In addition to his singing, Ieuan is an experienced harpist having played in events throughout the UK, including for the Prime Minister and members of The Royal Family.
